Halp! :[ (Virus/Spyware/etc Remover)

So, my computer got attacked by a rogue antivirus program. It shut down my internet for two days by installing a proxy and denying me access to anything I could use to close the program. I basically got locked out of my own computer. I used RKill to shut the program down then did a full scan under MBAM which should have located and remove the files. It failed to register the program as a threat so I did a system restore. I still didn't have internet (this time connection problems), and without warning Antivirus .NET (rogue program) reinstalled its self and started locking me out of everything again. I downloaded SpyHunter 4 because it was recommended, but wont remove anything unless I buy the program. I did some research, and people are calling SpyHunter a scam as well! I need advice on what REAL Spyware/Virus removal programs I should buy. Free would be nice, cheap is fine, but I can't be spending hundreds. (I have a site that needs to be launched at some point...) TL;DR Need a reliable, advanced and efficient virus/spyware remover. No Nortons, McAfee, etc. They do not catch even a fraction of what they should.

Malware Bytes and AVG Free edition. They are the best 2 things to team up together imho and I have used them the past 5+ years without a single virus breaking through. If you are having issues with your program finding it, you may have to uninstal and reinstal the program. I had this issue once with my AVG when it's main frame was hacked by the virus. A simple re-instal allowed AVG to find and destroy the virus.

This sounds terribly familiar. :| I'm a seasoned virus fighter, but I'm sorry to say that when I encountered a virus like this one, I finally lost a fight. The hard drive with said virus is rotting in the other room because I'm afraid to touch it anymore. Have you tried booting into Safe Mode? That will tell you whether you have the one I got or not. My nasty virus rewrote the boot sector of my drive - something I don't even know how to do - and I couldn't boot into Safe Mode. I've gotten rid of several viruses by booting into Safe Mode, running MBAM, and then all was well. Running MBAM while not in Safe Mode doesn't always work. Honestly, I've never found a program more effective than MBAM. Because parts of my Registry were rewritten, I remember seeing suggestions on Google to run Windows Recovery. You can do that off the Windows CD, and if I remember, it shouldn't affect any files on your hard drive. Y'might want to look into that. On a side note, to get really specific Google search results, type in quotation marks some of the exact text the virus is giving you in error messages etc. You'll find plenty of technical forum threads with steps of advice. When I purchased my new computer, Best Buy recommended Kaspersky Anti-virus. They say it's one of the best. I haven't had problems so far, and Kaspersky never annoys me like McAffee would... so worth looking into? I hope some of this was helpful. :|
